🧊 About Freeze Drying
What is freeze-dried candy?
Freeze-dried candy is regular candy transformed using a freeze-drying process. The candy is first frozen to extremely low temperatures, then placed in a powerful vacuum chamber where the frozen moisture is removed through sublimation (ice turns directly into vapor, skipping the liquid phase). The result? An ultra-crunchy, intensely flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth version of your favorite treats!
How does freeze drying work?
Our freeze dryers work by freezing the candy, then reducing the pressure and gently adding heat so the frozen water changes directly into vapor. This removes nearly all the moisture while preserving the candy's flavor, color, and aroma. Think of it as space-age snack science! 🚀
Why does freeze-dried candy puff up?
When the vacuum pulls moisture out of the candy, the sugars and other ingredients expand, creating that signature puffy, airy texture. It's like your candy decided to level up! Gummies and taffy especially love to puff into light, crispy clouds.
Does freeze drying change the flavor?
Yes — but in the best way! Freeze-dried candy actually tastes sweeter and more intense than the original because the flavors become more concentrated when the water is removed. Same candy DNA, amplified flavor. 🔊
Is freeze-dried candy the same as dehydrated candy?
No! Dehydration uses heat to slowly remove moisture, which can change the flavor and nutritional content. Freeze drying uses cold temperatures and vacuum pressure, which preserves flavor, color, and nutrients much better. It's a more advanced (and tastier) process.

What's the difference between freeze-dried candy and regular candy?
Regular candy is chewy, sticky, or soft. Freeze-dried candy is light, crunchy, and airy with a more intense flavor. The texture is completely transformed — imagine biting into a crispy cloud that dissolves on your tongue. Same great taste, totally new experience.
Can all candy be freeze-dried?
Not everything freeze-dries well! Candies with a lot of chocolate, peanut butter, oil, or fat don't process well because fat doesn't contain water to remove. That's why you won't see plain chocolate bars in our lineup — but candy with some chocolate coating (like our Eclairs) can work great!
🦷 Health & Dietary
Is freeze-dried candy healthier than regular candy?
Freeze-dried candy contains the same calories and nutritional content as regular candy — the process only removes moisture. However, freeze-dried candy is often better for your teeth since it's crunchy rather than sticky, so it doesn't cling to your teeth or dental work the way chewy candy does.
Does freeze-dried candy have more calories?
Nope! Freeze drying doesn't add any new ingredients — it only removes water. The calorie count per piece stays exactly the same as the original candy. That said, the lighter texture can make it easy to snack through a bag quickly, so pace yourself! 😄
Is freeze-dried candy safe for braces and dentures?
Great news — freeze-dried candy is generally much better for braces, spacers, fillings, and dentures than regular chewy or sticky candy. The crunchy texture dissolves quickly and doesn't get stuck in your dental work. Of course, always check with your dentist if you have concerns!
What about allergens?
Our products may contain or come into contact with common allergens including milk, soy, wheat, eggs, tree nuts, and peanuts, depending on the specific candy. Always check the individual product label for allergen information. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before ordering.
Are your products gluten-free / vegan / kosher?
Allergen and dietary info varies by product since we freeze-dry a variety of different candies. Check the product description and label for specific dietary information, or reach out to us and we'll help you find the right treats!
📦 Shelf Life & Storage
How long does freeze-dried candy last?
When properly stored in a sealed, airtight container, freeze-dried candy can last months to years. Once you open the bag, we recommend consuming it within a few weeks for the best texture and flavor — but let's be real, it probably won't last that long. 😉
How should I store my freeze-dried candy?
Keep it in a cool, dry place in its sealed packaging or an airtight container. Avoid exposure to moisture and humidity — moisture is the enemy of crunch! You do NOT need to refrigerate or freeze it. Room temperature is perfect.
Does freeze-dried candy need to be refrigerated?
Nope! Despite the word "freeze" in freeze-dried, these treats are shelf-stable at room temperature. Once the freeze-drying process is complete, there's no need to keep them cold. Just keep them sealed and away from moisture.
What happens if my candy gets exposed to moisture?
If moisture gets in, the candy may lose its signature crunch and become chewy or sticky again. While still safe to eat, it won't have that amazing freeze-dried texture. Keep those bags sealed tight!

🤔 Fun Stuff
Why is freeze-dried candy so popular right now?
The unique crunchy-then-melt texture, intensified flavors, and satisfying ASMR-worthy crunch have made freeze-dried candy a viral sensation on TikTok and social media. Plus, it's just genuinely fun to eat — every bite is a surprise! 🎉
Is freeze-dried ice cream the same stuff astronauts eat?
Yes! Freeze-dried ice cream (aka "astronaut ice cream") was developed for space missions. Our freeze-dried ice cream sandwiches, bites, and cubes give you that same out-of-this-world experience — no spacesuit required. 🧑🚀
Can I rehydrate freeze-dried candy?
Technically, if freeze-dried candy is exposed to moisture it will start to rehydrate and return toward its original chewy texture. But why would you want to? The crunch is the whole point! 😄
What should I do with the crumbs at the bottom of the bag?
Pro tip: sprinkle them on ice cream, cupcakes, yogurt, or oatmeal for an extra burst of flavor and crunch. Waste nothing, enjoy everything!
Why is freeze-dried candy more expensive than regular candy?
The freeze-drying process requires specialized equipment, significant energy, and takes hours to complete (sometimes 12–24+ hours per batch). The result is a premium, unique snacking experience you can't get any other way — and we think it's totally worth it!
